The DPC03 is a combination of data and power functions in the same cable. You can power your GPS from a cigarette lighter socket while exchanging data with a personal computer through the serial RS232 interface. As most modern laptop computers no longer have this interface, please check if you have a DB9 male connector socket in your computer, looking like the picture below.
