The DC5 cable is an economical way of connecting your GPS to your personal computer through the serial RS232 interface. As most modern laptop computers no longer have this interface, please check if you have a DB9 male connector socket in your computer, looking like the picture below.  If not you should consider direct USB cable  UDC5.
